I hear my dad saying, “As long as there’s breath in your body, you can do something!”  How appropriate to hear his voice at the start of a new year; I’m finally thawing from his passing two months ago.  Not only was he the last living member of his immediate family, he was the baby.  I guess that’s why we bonded so well.  Two babies navigating this thing called life while learning from those who came before us.

I don’t make resolutions.  I’m better at writing down my goals and working from there.  The world calls this proactively chasing destiny.  After seeing my dad for the last time on November 8, 2012, and remembering how he cherished every minute of his down-here-on-this-earth days, I’m inclined to call the actions I take in 2013 breath moves.  ‘Cause I do have breath in my body. And I can do something.  I can’t do everything at once, but I do believe each step I take toward a goal is better than idleness.  One word is the start of a blog entry or a novel.  One dollar is the start of a savings plan to achieve fiscal fitness and my wildest dreams.  One sincere compliment or expression of appreciation is the remedy to help a friend or loved one smile or hold her head a little higher.

Time is ticking and I'm making moves.  As long as I have breath in my body, I can assure you I’ll be doing something.  How about you????  J
